A forecast-day is one day of forecast data for one location. It's the simplest way to measure API usage.
Example: A 5-day forecast for Miami uses 5 forecast-days. A 3-day forecast for two different locations uses 6 forecast-days.
When you call the SpotCast API, you specify a location and a number of days. The cost is simply the number of days you request. Whether you ask for wind, waves, or the full forecast — it's the same price per forecast-day.

API requests will return an insufficient balance error. Your widgets will continue showing the last cached forecast but won't refresh with new data. Top up your balance in the dashboard to resume service immediately.
Your developer dashboard shows your current balance, usage history, and per-widget consumption. You can also check your balance programmatically via the API.
Each forecast-day includes the full AI-analyzed marine forecast: wind speed and direction, wave height and period, an overall conditions classification (excellent/good/fair/poor), and a plain-English summary — all tailored to your specified vessel type and size.
